UEFA can keep their award, Pope Francis has got one for Lionel Messi. The Argentine legend was presented with the 2019 Balon Educativo de Scholas award on Monday by the world director of the Pope Francis’ Scholas Occurentes foundation, Jose Maria del Corral.
The Barca star received the most votes from thousands of children from Scholas network. That’s over 500,000 institutions from 190 countries.
Messi received 34.38% of votes, more than every other participant in this summer’s Copa America in Brazil.
The award was made by boys from the community of Chicomo in Mozambique and was blessed by the Pope in Vatican City.
