Lionel Messi and Neymar rapidly developed an awesome friendship when the Brazilian joined Barcelona on 3 June 2013.

Fast forward to four years later, and the Argentine soccer legend has said farewell to his teammate in a touching Instagram video on Wednesday afternoon.

Messi’s post came after Neymar turned up at Barca’s training ground, and instead of training, bid his teammates farewell. The club also confirmed that the Brazilian has asked to leave for Paris Saint Germain. That means an end to the MSN – Messi-Suarez-Neymar partnership that football fans had come to love.

“It was a great pleasure to have shared all these years with you Neymar, friend. I wish you a lot of luck in the next stage of your life. See you.”

The five-time Balon d’Or winner ended his message with “TKM,” short for “te quiero mucho” or “love you a lot.”

In the comment section, Neymar replied “Thank you brother…I will miss you uncle!”

PSG Break Bank for Neymar

Meanwhile, Neymar’s representative Wagner Ribeiro has confirmed that Paris Saint Germain will pay the player’s €222m release clause and expects a deal to be finalised this week.

Barccelona had earlier released a statement saying:

“The player Neymar Jr, accompanied by his father and agent, has informed FC Barcelona this morning of his decision to leave the club in a meeting held at the club’s offices.

“Faced with this position, the club has informed them they refer to the buy-out clause of his existing contract which as of 1 July totals 222 million euros which will have to be deposited in its entirety.

“Furthermore, in reply to the claim for the contract extension bonus, the club has once again made it clear that the amount remains deposited with a notary until the case is resolved.

“The player remains under contract at FC Barcelona but with temporary permission to not take part in training sessions.”

He told reporters: “PSG will pay the release clause and Neymar will be presented in Paris this week.”

Neymar will arrive in Paris this week to finalise his world record transfer to the Ligue 1 outfit – the biggest football transfer in this decade maybe.
