Barcelona have filed a lawsuit against former player Neymar Jnr. following his world record transfer to Paris Saint Germain in the summer window.
Barca confirmed on Tuesday that the club is suing the Brazilian for a breach of contract, claiming they are owed €8.5m (£7.8million) from last year’s renewal bonus. The lawsuit is in connection to the payment of first ‘loyalty’ bonus on previous renewal until 2021.
Neymar switched the Catalan club for Ligue 1 for a record £198m deal – a full £109m more than the previous record formerly held by Paul Pogba after moving to Manchester United for £89m.
The player has already started repaying the huge amount paid for him with three assists and three goals from two games.
